Vail & Mt. Powell Trails

 

Vail

Vail riding area is located just across I-70 from the famous ski resort. This area is very large and much time can be spent riding here.		  

Vail ATV Trails

There are many trails going in all directions so keep track of where you are. Always ride with a partner and let someone know where you are going.

Vail Dirtbike trails

We took one trail and ended up in Avon where we were able to get gas. Make sure to take extra gas with you because there are no gas stations along the trail. 		 

Vail Jeep Trails

There are many great photo opportunities here. Beware that afternoon thunderstorms are common here so leave early to get plenty of riding in.
     

Avon Atv Trails

A beautiful picture of the Gore Mountain Range. Beware that if you choose to shelter out a thunderstorm under a tree, there are a lot of lightning strikes in the area.

We rode on the southern side of the trail system where many ski resorts can be seen.  Since that time we have return and ridden the eastern trails, see pictures below.
         

Avon Jeep Trails

If you have a watchful eye you may be able to spot some wildlife. At this part of the trail all the undergrowth had been pressed down by the animals.

  Avon Dirtbike trails

The trails in this area are suitable for ATVs, Motorcycles, and Jeeps. At the lower portions of the trial there were some two wheel drive passenger cars on the road.

Other trails in this area Red Cone

Directions from Denver: Take I-70 west to exit 176 and take N Frontage Rd W and turn right on Red Sandstone Rd. Drive up this road until you find a good place to park and start riding from there.
